After months of speculation, rumors, and reports, James Gunn has officially announced the full cast for his upcoming sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad. Some extremely notable names are joining the squad. Take a look at the official announcement from James Gunn himself below!
his confirms the return of fan favorites Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney. They will reprise their roles of Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, and Captain Boomerang, respectively.
In addition to the familiar names, new faces like Doctor Who‘s Peter Capaldi, SNL‘s Pete Davidson and 16-time WWE Champion John Cena have joined the team. James Gunns has also enlisted the help of his Guardians of the Galaxy cast members Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker for the DC team-up film. Fellow MCU director Taika Waititi is also among the film’s ranks.
While this also confirms that Will Smith’s Deadshot will not return, names like Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, and Storm Reid will bring enough star power to make up for it.
Rounding out the cast is Steve Agee, who will voice King Shark, and David Dastmalchian, who will play Polka Dot-Man.
Gunn has confirmed that this will be his next project before tackling Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. He was famously hired by Warner Bros. to direct and pen the screenplay following his controversial departure from Marvel Studios. However, the two were able to come up with a compromise shortly after.
